This is an image that started out as a part of the ‘Dead Wood Project’, but turned into a whole new image as I looked further to the surrounding Joshua Tree landscape. This is a stitched image containing 12 frames displaying juxtaposed nature, the living Juniper, hidden by the rock formation and the dead standing tall on the top.
Here is a humming bird resting in between feedings on the flowering Pink Fairy Duster (Calliandra eriophylla). This little gal spent a bunch of time posing for me both in flight and perched.
Finally, I’m back in Joshua Tree National Park. It’s so good to be shooting here again. I’ll take any sunset, here, I can get. I’ve been away for too long. This year is going to be a spectacular year for Joshua Tree blooms and wild flowers, so we’ll get to see some exciting images from the Park.
This Owl Butterfly was shot at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in their fantastic butterfly display featuring hundreds of butterflies with desert plants. If you have the opportunity, during the winter and spring season to visit admission to the butterfly enclosure is only $3.00 after you have entered the park.
Yesterday afternoon and evening was a fantastic day at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge. If you are ever traveling through the Palm Springs area and have an afternoon free this is one place to defiantly put on the list for a visit. Here is an image from sunset.
Here are a couple of the bird images shot through the afternoon and during the sunset.
