A rainbow appeared this afternoon as we entered the Joshua Tree National Park. It followed us to our destination, Hidden Valley, about 25 minutes from the entrance. This image was perfect as the sun started to set and we enjoyed the late afternoon shooting our Hidden Valley sunset.

Another Beautiful Sunset in Joshua Tree

I went out into the park to scout a location for some macro photography of the blooming cactus flowers and decided I’d stay for the sunset.  Here are a couple of the HDR images from the early evening.

Finally, I’m back in Joshua Tree National Park.  It’s so good to be shooting here again.  I’ll take any sunset, here, I can get.  I’ve been away for too long.  This year is going to be a spectacular year for Joshua Tree blooms and wild flowers, so we’ll get to see some exciting images from the Park.

Sunset at the Salton Sea

Yesterday afternoon and evening was a fantastic day at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge. If you are ever traveling through the Palm Springs area and have an afternoon free this is one place to defiantly put on the list for a visit. Here is an image from sunset.

Here are a couple of the bird images shot through the afternoon and during the sunset.

Every Day Should End Like This

Every Day Should End Like This

Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 17-40 f/4 @ f/20, 17mm, HDR from 1/4 sec to 1/10 sec, ISO 100, 05/09/15 @ 19:15 local time

As I was taking this picture, the sun lazily setting in front of me, no one around for miles on end, I thought: “Every day should end like this.” And if they only could, but you don’t get to see a spectacular display very often, so you have to enjoy them when they come. Fortunately I happened to be out in the desert when this day ended, looking for a view much like this one.
